Description:
Hi! I am an NYU student at the prestigious Tish School of Arts, and am taking a summer course for my benefit. As a last and final project, we were assigned to create a script from any movie, T.V. show, or book of our liking. As my project, I picked the well-rounded Weeds. I picked a scene from the first episode You Can’t Miss the Bear, written by Jenji Kohan. In the scene, Nancy (the mom) enters the scene in an angry matter because she is aware of a huge hole in her skylight in one of the bedrooms. Shane and Silas (her two sons) are in the family living room watching T.V. Shane announces that it is his fault and they continue to have conversations about their neighborhood, etc. Silas’ girlfriend (Quinn) enters the room and Silas and Quinn continuously touch each other like any normal teenage couple would do. The kids are ordered to leave the room because Nancy’s beeper goes off and tells the kids she has a quick “neighbor-hood watch meeting.” She really has meeting with another dealer, but is hiding the fact that she deals from her family. Nancy’s accountant’s son (Josh) enters the house and tells her that his usual “guy” is out of town on a yoga retreat. He wants her to deal to him and she agrees. The script includes lots of subtle jokes, and the writing is superb. I have already casted for 2 characters...Quinn and Shane so there names are in the script but not on the character list.
Casting calls will take place on Tuesday July 22 from 5 – 7 P.M.

Breakdown Description:
Nancy: I’m looking for a white woman age ranging from 30-35. Nancy is a very attractive woman and is extremely independent and witty. Her husband died of a heart attack, and never working before, she is left taking care of her large suburban house, her two kids, and her maid. Instead of taking a regular job she deals weed to deal with her money problems. Everyone in the neighborhood is aware of her money problems and in the first season she puts up a front saying she is going to open a bakery. She is very open and understanding with her two sons, and is honestly a badass. I want someone who has seen this T.V. show, who can play her very well, and who has a sense of humor.
Silas: Silas is Nancy’s teenage son. I am looking for a white male ages ranging from 16-20. He is definitely one of those ignorant teenagers who thinks he knows everything. He is perverted and is a horny teenage boy. He is a know it all and teases his little brother constantly. IGNORANT HORNY TEENAGE BOY is exactly what I want to cast.
Josh: I am looking for a male age ranging from 18-22. Josh is also a drug dealer. He is actually Nancy’s accountant’s son so she feels strange selling to him. I want him to be another ignorant teenage boy that things there is nothing more important than weed. He thinks his opinion is always right and he is very goofy. In the script he rhymes a lot of stuff and sings his lines. All he cares about is dealing and getting money. He works at a movie theatre and usually sells his weed there. He is an opinionated, music/movie loving, money demanding teenager.

Description:
I am an eager NYU Tisch Film and Television Production student directing two scenes for a TV studio class.
Needed: 2 females, 1 male – all in 20s
Rehearsal for scene 1: Tuesday July 8 / Time: TBA (most likely in the evening)
Shoot scene 1: Thursday July 10 / Time: 10:30am - 12:30pm
Rehearsal for scene 2: Sunday July 13 / Time: TBA
Shoot scene 2: Monday July 14 / 2:30pm - 4:30pm

Character 1: Allen : A 25-30 year old white male. He is an older business man. He has been dating his girlfriend Leah for 7 years and is very dependent on her power. She has the upper hand in the relationship and he is always at her beg and call. He is depressed and confused and after finding out that leah broke up with him for her assistant he reacts chaotically. He comes out of his shell in this scene and is uncontrollably trying to find out why she did this to him.
Character 2 : Leah : A 25-20 white female. She is a pompous business executive. She has been in a relationship for 7 years but ends up falling in love with her temporary assistant. She is extremely annoyed f Allen (her ex-boyfriend) and wants nothing to do with him. She is very careless and seems like she would rather be working then dealing with anything else.
Character 3: Ian: A young 20 -25 year old male preferably of white or hispanic decent. He is very shady and is trying to hide the fact that he had an affair with Leah, his boss. He is very dependent on leah and always makes sure it is okay for him to speak.
I am an NYU Tish Film and Television student and I am looking for actors to help with a 3-5 minute short.
